Beyond its phenomenal creativity, May Gibbs’ work is an early example of merchandising stories and artworks. The display presents a large collection of ephemera and realia which reflects this highly sophisticated merchandising. Rich resources reveal the many editions of Gibbs’ published works over time in wide-ranging formats. The extraordinary story behind saving Nutcote, Gibbs’ home in Sydney, which is now a museum open to the public, is also highlighted.
