Join collectors Julie and Andrew Carter in conversation with Visual Arts Curator Sita McAlpine for a floor talk about their expansive collection of Australiana ceramics.
Julie and Andrew Carter share an affinity for Australiana ceramics, yet as a husband and wife duo they have amassed vastly different collections inspired by their respective careers. Julie is drawn to Studio Anna ceramics illustrating iconic Canberra landmarks of the 1950-60s, while Andrew collects ceramics featuring eucalypts and native fauna from the 1930s and thereafter. Together, their collections tell the history of how Australiana ceramics came to embody our reoccurring affinity to the ‘bush’ and wound up being hung in pride of place in Australian homes.
