CMAG presents the Alastair Swayn Foundation 2023 Legacy Showcase: Light, Colour, Humanity - The Legacy of Alastair Swayn, curated by Ian Wong from Monash University. Part of the Enlighten Festival and the inaugural exhibition in CMAG’s new immersive gallery.
The Legacy Showcase theme for this year, Light, Colour, Humanity will feature in two events as part of the Enlighten Festival. An exhibition at Canberra Museum and Gallery and an outdoor public augmented reality experience in both Civic Square and the Federation Centenary Fountain.
The exhibition, Light, Colour, Humanity – The Legacy of Alastair Swayn is curated by colour and combines the three elements:
LIGHT: Photographic images taken by John Gollings AO of significant projects by the late Canberra-based architect and designer, Alastair Swayn AO.
COLOUR: Australian designed objects from the Ian Wong Collection.
HUMANITY: A film and narrative text that focusses on humanity-centred design.
Along with some of Australia’s best functional design objects, Canberra-centric objects include the iconic F!NK jug designed and manufactured by the late Robert Foster and the loved and loathed yellow stack hat designed by Bryon Fitzpatrick.
An exhibition curated by Ian Wong from Monash University and presented through the Alastair Swayn Foundation 2023 Legacy Showcase.
Partners: Canberra Museum and Gallery, Monash University, Robin Boyd Foundation.
In association with the Enlighten Festival 3–19 March 2023.
